Module 3: Special Considerations (2 hours)
3.1 Legal Aspects of First Aid
Duty of care: Obligation to provide assistance within your training.
Consent: Obtain permission before providing care.
Negligence: Avoid actions that could cause further harm.
3.2 First Aid Kits
Essential items: Bandages, dressings, gloves, scissors, CPR face shield.
Regular maintenance: Check expiration dates and restock supplies.
3.3 Record Keeping
Document incidents, treatment provided, and outcomes.
Maintain confidentiality of records.
3.4 Psychological First Aid
Provide emotional support to casualties and bystanders.
Stay calm and reassuring.
3.5 Dealing with Multiple Casualties
Triage: Prioritize casualties based on the severity of their condition.
Focus on life-threatening injuries first.
3.6 Specific Injuries
Eye Injuries: Rinse with clean water, avoid rubbing.
Dental Injuries: Save knocked-out teeth in milk or saline.
Nosebleeds: Pinch the nose and lean forward.
Abdominal Injuries: Keep the casualty still and monitor for shock.
